Surat Creates Guinness World Record on International Yoga Day
According to Harsh Sanghavi, the Minister of State for Home in Gujarat, the Yoga Day event held in Surat has achieved a “new Guinness World Record” by gathering the largest number of people for a yoga session at a single location.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat further stated, “Today, in Gujarat, approximately 1.25 crore people joined the Yoga Day session from 72,000 locations. In Surat, we have established a world record with the participation of more than one lakh people.”As the country is celebrating 75 years of independence, the Gujarat state government has also chosen 75 “iconic places” across the state for the festivities. The official release stated that these locations encompass renowned sites such as the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, the White Rann of Kutch, and the Modhera Sun Temple.
