IPL is finally set to come back to its home and away format stated by BCCI.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly stated that the IPL (Indian Premier League) will be back to its original home and away format from the 2024 season, he conveyed this statement to the board’s affiliate state units.
Due to the Covid-19 impact on 2020, the IPL was forced to be held in different venues like UAE- Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi for safety reasons. In 2021 it was held in India with four venues: Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Chennai.
As the pandemic scenario is seen to be improving day by day the IPL will be seen returning to its old format with each team playing one home and one away match.
According to Ganguly’s note to state units, in the next season of men’s IPL, all ten teams will play home matches as per their designated venues or home grounds.
It will be the first time since 2020 that the BCCI will conduct a domestic season and all multi-day tournaments will return to the old home and away format.
The BCCI will also be bringing the new women’s IPL format this year, which will likely take place after the women’s T20 world cup next year in march.
Back on September 20th, Ganguly said that the BBCI is working on the much-awaited women’s IPL. They are expecting to start it early next year. This women’s IPL will also set high standards for women’s cricket.
Not only that, the BCCI is even coming with a girl’s U-15 ODI tournament.
Regarding this Sourav Ganguly said that “We are glad to introduce a girl’s U15 one-day tournament from this season. Women’s cricket has had phenomenal growth across the world and our national team has been performing well. This new tournament will create a pathway for our young girls to play at the national and international levels.
The tournament will be held between December 26th to January 12th across five places – Bangalore, Ranchi, Rajkot, Indore, Raipur, and Pune.
