In the IPL media rights auction, for the Indian subcontinents media rights were split in two broadcasters. Disney Star and Viacom18 have won the television and digital rights for a gigantic amount of Rs 44,075 crore for the tenure 2024-2027. Â
There are two more packages for bidding of the IPL media which will take place on Tuesday in Mumbai. Bidding for the last two packages, a non-exclusive package of 18 matches per season, and overseas TV and digital broadcasting, will continue. Â It will be a non-exclusive digital package. 18 matches for 2024-24 seasons, potential 20 matches for 2025-26 and 22 matches for 2027.
As stated by the news agency PTI, the value of Package A was Rs. 23,575 crores acquired by Disney Star . While Package B’s value was Rs. 20,500 crores acquired by Viacom18.Â
The price per match is Rs 107.5 crore. It is nearly twice as compared to the amount paid in the preceding cycle. Throughout the beginning round of the auction, Rs 50 lakh increments were used, and once the winner of Package A challenged the highest bidder of Package ‘B,’ the final increased bid valuation was worth Rs 1 crore.Â
