The 2022 Indian Premier League saw players get big salary hikes from their previous income. The 2022 Auction saw some names getting more significant purchases by the ten franchises. This year’s Auction saw young players going for the highest purchases than the experienced ones.
Ishant Kishan
The biggest surprise for the Auction came from Mumbai Indians when they re-signed Ishant Kishan for a whopping price of Rs. 15.25 crore. For Mumbai Indians, Ishant Kishan was not the first ten crores + purchases but the second most expensive player in the history of IPL.
Kishan’s purchase price was Rs 6.20 Crore, and this year he went to 15.25 crore. Ishant Kishan has been the critical opening batsman for the Mumbai Indians for the past few years.
Kishan has scored half-centuries and centuries consecutive in IPL matches in a previous couple of years. Many teams in IPL even fear the opening partnership of Suryakumar Yadav and Ishant Kishan.
Deepak Chahar
The MS Dhoni-led franchise paid a wholesome amount of 14 crores to keep Deepak Chahar in their team. The Chennai Super Kings first purchased Chahar for Rs 80 Lakhs in 2018. Like Mumbai Indians bid for Kishan.
The Chennai Super Kings had never bought a player in an Auction for more the 10 Crore. The Indian Fast bowler Chahar has even crossed the salary of MS Dhoni, which is 12 crore this season.
Liam Livingstone
For last year’s Auction, Punjab Kings were the biggest spenders as they bought Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, and Jonny Bairstow. The Punjab Kings highest bid of the season was Liam Livingstone; Livingstone was brought for around Rs 11.50 crore in this year’s IPL Auction.
In the 2021 auction, Livingstone was bought for 75 lakhs by Rajasthan Royals, and a year change fortune this year, he was bought for Rs 11.50 Crore.
Harshal Patel
The IPL 2021 Purple cap holder had a Dream Auction this year. In 2018, the Delhi Capitals purchased Patel for just Rs 20 Crore, and then he was traded by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021 for the same salary.
The decision to retain Patel worked in the fav team’s favor, and he received a massive payday at the Auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Patel for Rs 10.75 crore.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga was also bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore as the most expensive buy alongside Harshad Patel. Sri Lankan all-rounder Hasaranga has also been acknowledged for Rs 10.75 crore.
Hasaranga is one of the emerging players in the world of cricket, with his leg-spin and lower order hitting ability make him a valuable asset to the team. In the last year’s Auction, Hasaranga joined Royal Challengers Bangalore mid-season as a replacement for Adam Zampa for just Rs 50 lakhs.
