She revealed how till this moment, Sutapa opened the suitcase where she had put the medical files and read it every night to figure out, “Did I do something wrong? Every day, night, and evening while he was getting treated, he would refuse to have a nurse or anybody else to take care of him.”
Sutapa Talks about the times when they started dating
She recalled, “When we got to know each other, there were no symptoms. There were no symptoms and as usual, he leaves for his shoot but there was slight uneasiness on his stomach and they got some tests done. They said ok and get some more tests done and tests test tests… So it all happened within say 15 days. And in 15 days, we came to know that it’s an advanced stage of neuroendocrine cancer.”
Sutapa also went on to state that both she and Irrfan were very different individuals. While Irrfan was a night person, she was a day person, which meant that they often ended up sleeping in different rooms. But the last two years of Irrfan’s life were different for both of them.
“Two years we were sleeping on the same bed when I didn’t know we would not do it again. In two years, he said for the first time that he loves me. (I remember) He was in complete pain so he gestured. So even though he is gone, I know he is around, especially at nights, if it’s raining, or his favorite book falls, I know he’s around somewhere,” Sutapa concluded.
