Is fourth wave of COVID-19 on way ?
India’s daily Covid-19 infection rate has almost doubled in this week, bringing back fears of a possible new and fourth wave of the pandemic. In the past 24 hours, the India sees 8329 new cases, a rise of nearly 40 per cent in comparison to the previous days. The authorities and health expert, has said Presently India isn’t at the verge to witness the fourth wave unless a new Covid-19 variant strikes in India.
“India is unlikely to witness the fourth wave unless and until a new Covid-19 variant is reported that has different characteristics from the previous variants,” director of internal medicine Max Healthcare Dr Rommel Tickoo said.
What is COVID-19?
Coronavirus disease commonly known as (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. CoV or Corona are a large family of virus that cause the illness mainly common or moderate cold. In extreme cases it leads to Pneumonia.
Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age. Again, the spread of corona virus took a boost and spreading again in most of the states of India.
“Corona took a boost again, Delhi reports 622 new Covid-19 cases.”. In the last 24 hours, 622 new cases have been reported in Delhi. The active cases all over the India has taken a new pace and rose to 32,498.
“Maharashtra getting affected again” According to the daily reports, 3000 new fresh infection cases have been observed in the state of Maharashtra marking alone an increment of 9.8% of the total cases. It can be said that “History is getting repeated”.
“Covid cases surges in the state of Kerala”: – According to news reports, the number of covid cases has crossed 2000 for the second time on the consecutive day in Kerala. 589 were from Ernakulam, again alarming. The health workers pointed the carelessness of people regarding the mask.
“Karnataka once again touching peak at its own, Bengaluru alone reports 494 out of 500”: –
Friday night, again the safety norms or protocols has been reissued in Karnataka. Wearing of masks again mandatory in public places and closed areas including shopping malls, theatres, restaurants, public and private transport etc. The guidelines also states that the eligible citizens should take the precautionary vaccine doses.
“Airport authority of India, once again reissued guidelines, mask is mandatory”. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has made masks mandatory in flight and at the airports in India. This is to be followed in all flights, across all airlines.
The mask mandate has come after India recorded 5,233 in a span of just 24 hours. Before this, India was going through a ‘relaxed’ period of more than three months. Again if not taken precaution is taken then India will be on “tough” time.
Precaution/Safety measures: –
- Maintain a safe distance, specially who is having mild or moderate Cough or Cold.
- Wear a mask in public or indoor area where maintaining social distance is difficult.
- Get vaccinated if you are eligible.
- Better to stay at home, avoid going outside.
Symptoms of COVID-19
- Fever
- Cough
- Cold
- Tiredness
From all the above statement we can conclude that the main weapon to avoid fourth wave is follow safety rules and guidelines. Only the citizen of India can avoid fourth wave by taking few safety measures. Presently no new variant of covid-19 has strike but if laxity is maintained then we can’t deny the fact that soon new variant of COVID – 19 will hit India and the condition will get more worse which is beyond the expectation and will lead to worst.
