The close aide of Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, “Prachanda,” said on Thursday that “Prachanda” would not resign in the face of the Opposition’s demand for his resignation in response to the shocking revelation that an Indian businessman who had settled here “once made efforts” to make him the premier.
Rekha Sharma, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the Government, stated that the Prime Minister will not resign over his remarks about Sardar Pritam Singh at a function to launch a book titled “Roads to the Valley: Sardar Pritam Singh’s Legacy in Nepal’ here.
Prachanda had stated in his remarks that Singh, a pioneering Nepalese trucking entrepreneur, contributed significantly to the improvement of relations between India and Nepal.
Prachanda said that Singh tried to make him the prime minister in the past. Singh went to Delhi many times and had many discussions with political leaders in Kathmandu to help me become prime minister.
The remarks have caused a storm and received criticism from a variety of sources.
Sharma stated when he briefed the media on Thursday regarding the decisions made by the Cabinet that the Prime Minister did not say anything that necessitated his resignation.
She stated that the Opposition made a demand for the Prime Minister’s resignation just as a bill to punish loan sharks was about to be passed by Parliament. She went on to say that the opposition only wanted the PM to resign in order to divert the attention of the Parliament.
In the mean time, the Top state leader’s secretariat gave an assertion, saying his comments were “misconstrued.” ” According to the statement that was released by the Press Advisor to the Prime Minister, Govinda Acharya, there were efforts to fulfill political interests by taking advantage of the remarks, and the matter had drawn the “serious” attention of the secretariat.
The secretariat blamed significant resistance groups for impeding parliament for the sake of the said assertions ascribed to the State leader. Because of the obstacle in parliament, the law to carry the bill to condemn the usury practice has been canceled denying the survivors of equity, peruses the assertion.
“We feel very upset about the cancellation of the law, and are determined to take strong actions to help the victims of loan sharks. ” Prachanda’s party, CPN (Maoist Center), said they were worried about the opposition spreading false information about the Prime Minister’s statement about Sardar Pritam Singh.
The decision collusion has communicated worry over the demonstration of resistance groups, including the fundamental Resistance Socialist Faction of Nepal-(Brought together communist Leninist) (CPN-UML), in parliament, naming it ‘non-political’ and ‘non-parliamentary’.
Thursday’s meeting of the ruling parties at the PM’s official residence concluded that the opposition parties opposed the government’s efforts to ensure justice for those affected by the usury practice, which prevented the government from presenting the “Bill to Amend some Nepal Acts including the Civil Code-2080 BS.”
“Any party or part in parliament is permitted to scrutinize the public assertion of the Top state leader, however the manner in which significant resistance groups decided to challenge parliamentary standards,” said CPN (Bound together Communist) Bad habit Executive Rajendra Pandey.
Following the disruption caused by opposition parties—the UML, the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)—over Prachanda’s remarks, the House of Representatives meeting was postponed until Friday.
The slogans “a Prime Minister appointed by New Delhi does not have the right to continue in the post” were yelled by members of the main opposition Communist CPN-UML and RPP.
On Wednesday, the CPN-UML also interrupted the National Assembly meeting, asking the prime minister to step down.
Raghuji Pant, a lawmaker for the UML, stated, “The prime minister should resign on moral grounds.” We do not require Delhi to appoint a prime minister. Prachanda’s statement has been criticized by both the opposition and the ruling parties.
The remarks made by the prime minister are deserving of criticism. After the House meeting on Wednesday, Bishwa Prakash Sharma told journalists that “his remarks are wrong.”
This isn’t the first time that Nepal’s top leaders have caused a stir by making rash comments about sensitive topics like geopolitics, bilateral relations, and other national issues.
At the book launch on Sunday, the Prime Minister explained his controversial comments about Singh. He said that they were being misunderstood and causing trouble. The Prime Minister said that what he had said about Singh was taken from the book “Roads to the Valley” written by Kirandeep Sandhu. But some people are making a big deal out of it.
I wanted to demonstrate that Pritam Singh was interested in politics as well as social services and transportation, and that he had lobbied with parties in Delhi and Nepal to become Prime Minister. I think that the Prime Minister might not mean to suggest that India is interfering with the internal politics of Nepal. However, when discussing such a sensitive topic, he should have used political and diplomatic language with caution,” Ganesh Shah, secretary of the CPN-Maoist Centre, said in response to the Prime Minister’s contentious remarks.
He pointed out that the Parliament was debating serious and significant issues, but unfortunately, his remarks caused its postponement to waste valuable time that could have been used for productive discussions.
