Stray dogs in India suffer from extreme brutality by the citizens. Many throw stones or their garbage on the dogs. There are innumerable cases every day where dogs are hit or ill-treated everywhere.
The latest event that occurred in Delhi will shock everyone to the core. Footage of the area’s CCTV camera was uploaded by someone on their social media account.
The footage showed how a group of kids, early in the morning, left their houses with sticks, and mercilessly beat the sleeping stray dogs to death.
They would take two-three dogs at a time and beat them. They have allegedly killed over forty dogs in only a few days.
The question that comes up here is how did the parents not stop their kids from committing such inhuman acts? The reason behind this is that these kids would say that they are going to play outside, while what they actually did is disgusting.
The Indian law states that Indian dogs cannot be dislocated, beaten, or killed. The Indian Penal Code states that offenses against animals are treated as damage to property and/or assets.
Killing or causing any injury to any animal is a punishable offense under sections 428 and 429 of the IPC.
The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act states 1960, and subsequent Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules of 2001.
So far, no one has been detained and police are still investigating the matter.
