Founder of Jack Brewer Foundation discusses his dissent for the rising crime wave among juveniles. The discussion arises after his friend and Florida businessman was shot in the face.
Jack Brewer is the founder of the Jack Brewer Foundation. It is an organisation dedicated to battling extreme poverty. He expresses his dissent towards the growing crime crisis in America. Brewer says this in response to two juveniles shooting his friend, a barbershop owner in Florida, in the face in an attempted robbery.
Brewer expressed his views on the situation on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend” on 17th July. He explored his demur and agitation towards the incident and current increasing criminal activity in America.
He goes on to say that a new trend of break-ins is taking over the country. Where criminals are going around and freely robbing people. He also mentions that the amount of home invasions are spiking up and it really is something to be frightened about.
Brewer expresses his anger sparked by this “juvenile crisis” further blaming pop culture and video games as being one of the root causes for activity like this. Saying what young kids have been “putting into their system” through music and media is part of the problem.
Accused shoot barbershop owner in the face.
The incident that triggered these statements occurred earlier in the week. Officers arrested two juvenile males who tried to rob a barbershop owner in Florida. The accused, Trae Michael Butler (18) and Richard Fowler (21) attempted to rob the man (who happened to be close friends with Jack Brewer) in broad daylight at 11:59am in a quiet suburban neighbourhood.
The two were accused of strolling into the barbershop in order to rob and shoot the owner. They shot the owner in the face however, doctors believe the man will make a recovery.
Butler and Fowler are being charged with attempted murder as well as armed robbery with a firearm. Further, Butler individually is facing charges of resisting arrest without violence and Fowler that of reckless driving. Both Butler and Fowler have been placed in immigration holds.
Another incident in Florida.
Just earlier on in Florida, a day before the mentioned incident, another home invasion took place. Here, the three out of four accused, aged 18 and 20, forced their way into the victim’s home and began attacking him while the fourth waited with a handgun in the car.
The victim after losing his gun in the brawl then ran into the house, grabbed his rifle and began shooting at the invaders. Out of the four, three have been identified and two have been arrested since.
‘Florida man’, America and its rising crime wave.
Brewer continues to say that critical measures need to be taken with regards to America’s growing crime wave. He also puts most of the blame on immigrants moving into the country saying
“These people come over here into our country, we let them run around and just threaten the lives of innocent people.”
Brewer also goes on to defend the second amendment which is the right for an American to keep and bear arms. He justifies this by saying that these continuous incidents are terrifying for him and is deeply concerned for the safety of his children.
Florida however, has in recent years become known for a series of the most bizarre crimes and criminal activity. The headline ‘Florida man…’ has become synonymous with the identity of people in the state. Soon becoming a meme in 2013 and resurfacing in 2020, ‘Florida man’ headlines still contain some of the most bizarre stories.
The strangeness of the stories however, end at the use of violence and the loss of life. This strangeness then turns into terror.
Gun violence in America has become a horrifyingly common part of American life. Due possession of firearms being protected by the constitution, now the lives being lost through gun violence is not only justified but also a new norm. Mass shootings carried out by young children subjected to young children occur more and more often.
America now needs to decide if this loss of life and increase in bigotry and terror is justified and why.
