On Saturday, November 19, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called for an “undifferentiated and undiluted” approach towards fighting terrorism, saying that “terror is terror, and no political spin can ever justify it.“
In a ministerial conference hosted by our country, Jaishankar criticized the countries that use terror as a” tool of statecraft”.
“It’s important that all lands collectively follow an undifferentiated and undiluted approach to terrorism. Terror is terror, and no political spin can ever justify it”, he said at the No Money For Terror conference yesterday while addressing a session on promoting transnational cooperation against terror backing.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs press release, ‘ Hosting of this conference shows the significance being given by the Modi Government to the issue of transnational terrorism as well as its zero-tolerance policy against this peril.
’Most countries are today making efforts to put effective and truculent domestic against terrorist entities. There are, still, many who aid and support, and justify terrorism and wilfully provide fiscal backing and safe havens,” he said, in an apparent reference to Pakistan.
Jaishankar said that it’s ironic that terror attacks it’s frequently backed up by cross-border support. Procurement of ammunitions, recruiting of fighters, and transfer of finances is where the authorities stop because terrorism stops at their geographical borders and that’s where governance ends.” These limitations play to the benefits of the terrorist groups.” he said.
In India’s context, terrorist groups from across the border like Lashkar-e-Taiba( LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed( JeM) or Harkat- ul Mujahideen and their proxies thrive on assured financial support to commit barbaric acts of terror on Indian soil”.
” The global fight against terrorism can not succeed without conscious and coordinated efforts to counter financing of terrorism,” he said.
He also stressed how recent trends suggest that terrorist groups have set up new ways to finance their conditioning, appears these groups are hastily embracing and borrowing new anonymous financial and payment technologies.
He emphasized that malefactors, financiers, and facilitators of terror attacks are walking free, and enjoying state support and hospitality.
Jaishankar said that India has been loyal in seeking effective and unequivocal conduct against terrorism and terror backing. The External Affairs Minister noted that India has taken threat assessment in recent times and is gearing up for its forthcoming collective evaluation, under FATF.”
Also, he further said that India will remain committed, loyal, and energetic to expose the existential threats that terrorism poses to global security and stability. Collectively we will shine the spotlight on this peril. He said India will organize a brief on counter-terror coming month, under its Presidency of Security Council.
