Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to the US, gave speeches in the various sessions held criticizing the ruling party and the democracy of the nation.
On Thursday, the Congress retaliated against External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for criticizing Rahul Gandhi for recent comments he made in the US, claiming that it was Jaishankar who had appointed him to a ministerial position and that he was the one who had pioneered the practice of taking national politics abroad.
After Jaishankar criticized Mr. Gandhi for his “habit” of attacking India abroad and claimed that doing so is not in the interests of the country, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh fired his assault.
In response to a query on the Congress leader’s harsh criticism of the government led by Narendra Modi made in the United States, Mr. Jaishankar stated that he had no issue with anything done within India but that it is inappropriate to bring up domestic issues abroad.
Mr. Ramesh tweeted, “The man who started the practice of carrying national politics beyond the nation’s borders is none other than the man who gave you (Jaishankar) your ministerial position,” in what appeared to be a dig at Prime Minister Modi. “You are aware of it, Dr. Minister, but you refuse to admit it”, he added.
Randeep Surjewala, general secretary of the Congress, responded that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had handed the external affairs minister an “old script” and that he should read a new one, in response to a question regarding Mr. Jaishankar’s criticism of Rahul Gandhi.
“The country’s almost 70-year history has been mocked and prior administrations have been made fun of by the prime minister.” In a press conference held here, Mr. Surjewala stated that what Rahul Gandhi had said was just the truth—that our constitutional bodies were being targeted in a planned, systematic onslaught.
“Rahul Gandhi has a history of attacking the nation and commenting on our politics every time he travels”, Mr. Jaishankar stated during the news conference. “What is the world seeing when it looks at us? Elections are held across the nation, and occasionally one party triumphs over another.”
He also radiated assurance that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would maintain control in the parliamentary elections held the following year by saying, “2024 ka result toh wohi hoga, humein pata hai (we are aware of what will transpire in 2024).”
All of the storylines (contrary to the government) are produced domestically if you look at them all. A narrative is taken abroad if it fails to engage the reader or becomes less compelling. According to the external affairs minister, they anticipate that the outside assistance would be successful in India. Taking national politics abroad, in the opinion of Mr. Jaishankar, won’t make Mr. Gandhi more credible.

Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, attacked Rahul Gandhi for his comments made in the United States, accusing him of “insulting” the nation and claiming the Congressman finds it difficult to accept compliments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi from other countries. Rahul Gandhi, according to the BJP leader, challenges India’s progress at a time when its stature is increasing.
