Jasprit Bumrah completes his recurrent back surgery and will be out for 6 months.
Jasprit Bumrah successfully undergone surgery
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has successfully undergone surgery on his back in New Zealand and is expected to be out of action for the next six months, according to reports. Bumrah, who has been plagued by a recurrent back injury, has not competed for India in any matches since September of last year.
The surgery was carried out by orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Rowan Schouten, who specializes in the treatment of adult spinal conditions and hip replacement surgery. Sources affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have stated that the procedure was “successful”.
It is anticipated that Bumrah will be sidelined for the next six months, which means he will miss the Asia Cup and the entirety of the Indian Premier League in 2024.
His inability to attain match fitness has resulted in the pacer having to undergo surgery. Initially, it was thought that he would make his return to action during the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, according to sources speaking to PTI from the BCCI, his comeback is likely to take place during the One-Day International World Cup that will be held in India in the months of October and November.
Bumrah has not participated in a Twenty20 International since Australia’s tour of India in September of the previous year, during which he played in two T20Is. After that, he decided not to play in a white-ball series against South Africa and ended up missing the Twenty20 World Cup as a result.
The selectors were pleased with his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and they named him to play in the home series against Sri Lanka in January. However, he suffered niggles that caused him to be ruled out of the series once again.
Bumrah’s injury has been a major concern for the Indian cricket team, especially with the upcoming World Cup. The team management is hoping that he will be fit in time for the tournament.
