After his departure from Manchester United was confirmed this summer, Juan Mata shared an emotional farewell video with fans.
Mata has played 285 times for United among his 51 goals and four trophies. Chelsea’s first season with the player saw him make 285 appearances.
During his illustrious career, David Moyes served under David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ralf Rangnick.
Although he did not win the Premier League or Champions League, Mata was a popular figure among fans and teammates at Manchester United.
So, the 34-year-old is bidding his final farewell with glowing words, posting a video on Twitter, which includes some of his best moments as well.
This is what he wrote
For many moments over the past years, I never thought I would be writing this message since I’ve been processing the changes in my life for a long time.
However, as with everything good, the time I spent at Manchester United is over.
The emotions I have experienced over the last few weeks would be difficult to convey in this text; however, I would like to sum it up by saying that I am the happiest man on the planet to have represented this club for eight and a half years.
In my youth, I would have never dreamed of playing for one of the greatest clubs in the history of the game as it would have seemed far-fetched for a kid from Spain. However, sometimes dreams become reality.
Mata made the following remarks
Matta added: ‘As I sit down today to write these lines, I couldn’t be more thankful for what my career has given me so far and I am as excited as that youngster about what’s to come. Playing football still excite me as much as it did when I was a kid.
I have just finished my career at Manchester United, so naturally, everything good must come to an end.
‘I want to express my thanks to every member of staff that I have had the pleasure of working with in Manchester – every manager and every teammate I have run into during my time here.
While it hasn’t been the most successful period in the club’s history, there have been memorable moments along the way that will stay with me forever.
He scored two goals for Manchester United against Liverpool at Anfield in 2015 and the equalizer in the FA Cup final in 2016.
While Erik ten Hag was preparing to take up his position as manager, he left the club along with Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, and Lee Grant.
The club and the new manager deserve nothing but the best and I hope this is the beginning of the club enjoying great football, major trophies, and the enjoyment of the fans.
There should be nothing less or more than what you deserve from this football club.
There’s no goodbye here, but we look forward to seeing you. Manchester will be on my list of places to visit whenever possible. I am very thankful that you have given me this opportunity since I now become a part of your history.
I will always be one of you, and I hold true esteem and pride for each of you.
