Justice Satish Chandra Sharma on Tuesday took oath as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena administered the oath to Justice Sharma at a ceremony in the Raj Niwas, the L-G’s secretariat.

Previously, Justice Sharma was the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
The Delhi High Court was established on October 31, 1966. Four justices, comprising Chief Justice K. S. Hegde, Justice I. D. Dua, Justice H. R. Khanna, and Justice S. K. Kapur, formed the High Court of Delhi.
The current authorized strength of the High Court is 45 permanent justices and 15 extra judges.
The Central government announced Justice Sharma’s selection as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on June 19. Before being appointed as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, he was the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.
In a decision reached on May 17, 2022, the Supreme Court collegium led by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana recommended his removal.
The current chief justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Sharma, was elevated as a Judge to the Madhya Pradesh High Court on January 18, 2008.
On January 15, 2010, he was named a permanent judge. Later, Justice Sharma was moved to Karnataka High Court, and on August 31, 2021, he took the position of Acting Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.
