Justin Bieber announced his break from music for a while as half of his face has been allegedly paralyzed. Ramsay Hunt Syndrome caused this severe condition.
Bieber posted an Instagram video to inform the fans of this condition. According to Mayo Clinic, the syndrome is generally caused when an inactive old virus becomes reactive in the facial nerve. This might lead to facial paralysis, as in Bieber’s case, and cause hearing loss.
Mayo Clinic also stated that it is caused by the same virus which causes Chicken Pox. After getting cured of pox, the virus remains within the facial nerve. The syndrome is caused by its revival.
According to Rare Disease Database, the syndrome is found among 5 out of 100,000 people in the USA every year.
