Kangana Ranaut has been diagnosed with dengue but even that has not been able stop the actor from working on the sets of her directorial debut, Emergency. The actor was diagnosed with dengue on Monday. Kangana has a low white blood cell count and is suffering from high fever.
Kangana’s team wrote, “When you are down with dengue, alarmingly low white blood cell count and high fever and yet you land at work, it’s not passion it’s madness…our chief @kanganaranaut is such an inspiration.” Kangana reposted the same this on her Instagram story and wrote, “Thank you team @manikarnikafilms body gets ill not the spirit…thanks for the kind words.”
Kangana Ranaut will be seen playing the role of Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India. The film is written by Ritesh Shah and is the directorial debut for Kangana. Kangana has hired renowned Hollywood prosthetic makeup artist David Malinowski for her film ‘Emergency’.
Talking about the film, Kangana said, “The Emergency is an undeniable part of recent history and I feel that this will click with the audience. Since the teaser has dropped it’s been trending at number 1, it has taken the nation by storm and it is a validation of the fact that this is what people are starved for. It’s not that people don’t want content, they want to see young filmmakers, new thought process, and refreshing ideas and not the stale typical formula films. I do believe that my instinct as a filmmaker will pay off big time.”
Manikarnika The Queen of Jhansi, a period drama, was co-directed by Kangana. This is not the first time that Kangana will play a real life character. She first appeared in Thalaivi, a biopic based on the former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
The film is based on the turbulent period in the 1970s when Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency in the country. It also stars Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade in key roles. Kangana also has ‘Tejas’ and the sequel of ‘Manikarnika’ lined up for her future projects.
