Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, sought the resignation of Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Monday after a video appeared showing armed men stopping a car in a busy tunnel and stealing from its passengers at gunpoint.
The anonymous individuals are shown in the video stopping a car in the Pragati Maidan tunnel in the middle of the city and robbing its passengers while threatening them with a gun.
The Delhi Police reported that a delivery agent along with his associate got robbed under threat a gun, who was carrying cash of around Rs. 2 lakhs, and a group of anonymous unidentified perpetrators inside the tunnel on 24th June. The two individuals were travelling to Gurgaon in order to execute a commercial transaction. So far, no one has been arrested. The incident happened on Saturday between 3 and 4. The 1.5-kilometre tunnel links Noida, Sarai Kale Khan, and New Delhi.
The chief minister reaffirmed his demand that Delhi’s law and order should be given to the local government while posting the video of the alleged event.

Kejriwal tweeted and shared a video of the incident, writing that LG ought to resign. A Room should be made for someone who can guarantee the safety and security of Delhi’s residents. Give Delhi to the local government if the Central Government can’t make it safe.Â
Kejriwal and Saxena had a series of accusatory messages last week on law and order. Even earlier also, AAP had accused the Lt. Governor of nepotism.
On Twitter, Delhi’s minister Atishi said that If the LG gets spare time from claiming credit for Kejriwal’s job, then he should pay careful attention to his constitutional obligations. Security for Delhi residents is his responsibility. And Presently, in broad daylight, murder, theft, and other crimes are occurring in Delhi. Either he should claim responsibility for Delhi’s law and order or he should resign from his post.
The Crime Incident:
Four armed individuals on two motorcycles allegedly attacked two workers of a private company who were travelling in a cab on Saturday and took their bag full of cash at gunpoint inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel in yet another daring event in the centre of the city.
To execute a commercial transaction, the two men were travelling to Gurgaon. So far, no one has been arrested. The incident happened between 3 and 4 o’clock. In the late afternoon, one of the victims went to the police station on Tilak Marg and made a formal complaint.
Six armed and eleven unarmed security guards have lately been stationed at the tunnel due to the thefts. A senior officer said that the guards were stationed at the tunnel’s entrance and exit when asked where they were at the time of the event.
Patel Sajan Kumar, a delivery agent for a private company in Chandni Chowk, allegedly filed a complaint with the police. Jigar Patel and Kumar claimed they were travelling to Gurgaon to deliver a bag containing cash. They made a taxi reservation from Red Fort. They were waylaid by four individuals on two motorcycles as they reached the Pragati Maidan tunnel.
One of them pulled a gun on them, ordered them to exit the car, and demanded the bag, the officer claimed. The attackers took the bag holding about Rs 2 lakh from the men despite their attempts to fight them off and fled the scene. Additionally, they warned the two that calling the police would have serious repercussions.
A case was filed under IPC Sections 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to inflict death or great bodily harm) and 34 (acts carried out by multiple people in furtherance of a common aim) based on the complaint.
