Manhattan federal court begins the jury selection from Thursday in the case against actor Kevin Spacey which was filed by Anthony Rapp regarding sexual misconduct. The actor is suing Spacey for $40 million. The case is regarding their encounter when Rapp was 14 and they met in Spacey’s Manhattan home in the year 1986. He has alleged that the actor picked him up then grabbed his buttocks and laid down on top of him. The allegations made by Rapp first made headlines in 2017 but this will be the first time when Spacey will be defending himself in the presence of a selected jury. Following the disclosure made by Rapp, thirty other individuals have come forward alleging that Spacey assaulted or harassed them sexually. Spacey is now fired from “House Of Cards” after the allegations made news. The actor is famously known for his Academy award for his work in “ American Beauty”. Rapp is known from his works in “Dazed and Confused” and from “Star Trek: Discovery”. Kevin Fowler has denied everything in his response and he says that nothing of such sort happened. The actor said that he has no recollection and “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”
Mere three months ago, kevin pleaded not-guilty in his trial of London where he was charged for assaulting three men during his time as an artistic director at the Old Vic theatre. The actor was also ordered by a judge in Los Angeles to pay $30.9 million to the makers of the Netflix show “House of Cards” for violating his contract by assaulting crew members.
Rapp and Spacey, both are expected to testify at the trial. Other witnesses will include a psychologist testifying about the post traumatic stress handled by Rapp which occurred as a result of the encounter with him.
