New Virus
Just amid our fight to completely eradicate Covid-19, a new virus, Khosta-2: A new vaccine-resistant virus similar to covid discovered in Russian bats. Khosta-2 has been found in Russian Bats. The virus has the potential to infect human beings. The research has been published in the PLoS Pathogens Journal. The similarity of the virus has been cited with the covid-19 virus.

Khosta-2 and Covid-19 Virus
Both viruses are found to be similar and have been classified under the category of Sarbecoviruses. The virus is said to have resistance to the vaccines for covid-19.
The virus was found by researchers at Washington State University (WSU) in the United States of America. The study mentions that the virus poses a threat to ongoing vaccine campaigns against Covid.
Both viruses were found in the Russian bats. It was felt initially that they don’t possess any harm to humans but new research has found that they can infect humans. Khosta-2 poses more risk than the Khosta-1 virus. Khosta-1 and Khosta-2, both were found in Russian bats in the year 2020. Both the virus was discovered in bat samples collected in March-October near the Sochi National Park.
