New Delhi: In a tragic turn of events, the untimely demise of Sub Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha of Assam Police has left the public in a state of shock and disbelief. According to official reports, Rabha met with a fatal accident on May 16, 2024. However, widespread public sentiment suggests that her death was not a mere accident but a premeditated murder. As demands for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe continue to mount, authorities are facing mounting pressure to uncover the truth behind this mysterious incident.
According to police reports, Rabha’s death occurred when her private car collided with a container truck in the Sarubhugia village under the Jakhalabandha police station of Kaliabor Sub-Division. The accident was said to have taken place during the midnight hours. A police team reached the spot around 2:30 am and rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
The police, following standard protocols, initiated a thorough investigation into the incident. The container truck was seized, but the driver fled from the accident spot. Later, on May 18, the truck driver identified as Sumit Kumar, surrendered himself at the Jakhalabandha Police Station.
However, soon after the news of her tragic passing spread, the public began to voice their suspicions about the nature of Rabha’s death. Several individuals claimed that her accident was not a mere coincidence but rather a well-planned act of foul play. Social media platforms became inundated with theories and speculations, leading to widespread calls for a CBI investigation. Public sentiment points towards a lack of trust in the local Police force’s ability to conduct an impartial inquiry, fueling the demand for the involvement of the CBI, renowned for its independent and thorough approach to solving complex cases.
In response to the public outcry, Assam Police on Saturday urged the state government to transfer the case to CBI. DGP GP Singh, while addressing the media on Saturday said that the case involves a Police Officer’s death, therefore, it will be appropriate to transfer the case to a neutral agency
On Thursday, the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma vowed to ensure a fair investigation and pledged to forward the case to the CBI if any substantial evidence or irregularities are found during the ongoing inquiry. Speaking to the media, the CM said he is ready to hand over the case to the CBI. The CM further said the culprits involved in the case will not be spared.
