A man was stabbed in Shivamogga district of Karnataka allegedly over a poster of V D Savarkar.
The man pasted a poster of Savarkar and another man removed it and put-up Tipu Sultan’s poster. The incident took place at Amir Ahmed Circle, in Shivamogga as part of Independence Day celebrations.
According to reports a group of Muslim men objected to Savarkar’s poster and removed it. A clash erupted between the two groups thereafter. vvvvncvncncgncgmcmhmhmhvmhmhmhgmhmhmhmhmhmfhfhfhmhvmvmv
The Muslim group put up a poster of Tipu Sultan poster at the same spot which led to a verbal brawl between the two groups. This eventually led to a clash and lathi charge of police to disperse the crowd.
The Hindu group tried to put up the Savarkar poster again but the police intervened and denied permission. The police seized the poster of Savarkar.
Later in the day, right-wing groups, Vishwa Hindi Parishad and Bajrang Dal staged a protest in the city.
“Considering the prevailing situation, we have imposed section 144 in Shivamogga town and Bhadravati (taluk). The police have the situation under control and we will be probing the case in detail,” said Shivamogga superintendent of police, Laxmi Prasad. men d DDD ckkcs cscsc scscs cscsc sc csscsc cs cscs csc sc cscscs scscscs cc cc
SP Laxmi Prasad of Shivamogga mentioned that a similar incident had taken place on Saturday in the city. An argument had taken place on the poster of Savarkar at a mall.
“We think today’s (Monday) incident could be a fallout of that episode. Police have yet to verify if the stabbing incidents had any connections with the clash.
Earlier widespread protests had taken place across Shivamogga in February over the killing of 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Harsha. At least 10 arrests have taken place so far.
