Lilly Saini Singh, also known as “Superwoman,” is a famous personality, an actor, an ex-talk show host, a comedian, and a YouTuber. The 34-year-old comedian was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. She is of Indian descent and her parents are from Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
Although Lilly Singh is now residing in Los Angeles, USA, she moved to America to further pursue her career in 2015. As of 2021, her net worth has been estimated at around $20 million. She has been on the top list of Forbes as the highest-paid YouTuber since 2015.
How did Lilly Singh become famous?
For those who don’t know Lilly Singh, she has a YouTube channel named “Superwoman” and her channel is famous for funny and relatable videos. Singh started her YouTube journey in 2010 as a way to deal with her depression.
Her first video on YouTube was about how to tie a side turban. At that time, the video received barely 70 views, but now that video has around a million views with more than 8000 comments on it. She gained recognition in 2013 and, to date, she has around 15 million subscribers on YouTube.
Singh has declared herself a “tomboy” and even if you watch her YouTube videos, she behaves like one in them as well.

Lilly said that this whole YouTube thing has been a happy accident for her. She was always into comedy but never thought that she would be able to make a career out of it. Even when her videos started getting a good number of views and likes, it never occurred to her that she could make a living out of comedy.
She told Vogue, “There was never really a particular moment when I told my friends that I was going to be an entertainer.” Till now, Lilly Singh has had encounters with many celebrities like Dwayne Johnson, Selena Gomez, Shay Mitchell, Priyanka Chopra,
and many more. Singh came out as bisexual in 2019 and then, later on, she became the first queer woman of color to host a late-night show on a major network.
Lilly Singh’s obsession with Bollywood.
She has had a huge impact on Bollywood in her life. In a recent interview with Vogue, she said that “As a teen, there may have been a gap in my knowledge of American songs and movies, but never with Hindi cinema”. She has been obsessed with Bollywood for a long time.
The first movie that she watched was “Hum Apke Hai Kaun.” She even told me that her walls had been plastered with photos of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, etc.
How she started writing her new book.
Lilly told Vogue that during the pandemic she deleted social media from her phone for 7 months and started writing her new book, “Be a Triangle: How I Went from Being Lost to Getting My Life into Shape.” The comedian also said that, like all other people, her schedule also went to crap.
She said that it was scarier than anything in this whole world because she felt like she had no other purpose left. She realized that she could start valuing her existence and her value as a friend also. Because of that book, she has started to realize her worth and it allowed her to see the internet differently: “a tool that I use, not one that uses me.”
