Agin S. Dileep, from Kerala, a 23-year-old student committed suicide on Tuesday in Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab’s Phagwara. After the suicide case was opened to all, the police registered a case of abetment against a professor who used to teach the victim at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (Kerala).
The victim, Agin S. Dileep, a former student in the first year of Bachelor of Design at Lovely Professional University (LPU), took the extreme decision of committing suicide on Thursday at LPU, Police said. In his suicide note, he complains against a professor named, Prasad Krishna, for manipulating him into the process of switching colleges during his admission to Bachelor of Design in university standards.
As the suicide note become viral like the air everywhere, all the other students are commenting protests in the campus area and demanding justice for the victim and also demanding the chastisement of the accused in this case as soon as possible by the police or by the concerned authorities involved in this case. Phagwara police logged” a case under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC against Prof Krishna based on a complaint filed by Dileep’s father S Dileep”, ADGP (law and order) Arpit Shukla said.
He said that the Phagwara police, including SP Mukhtiar Rai, investigate the case under the supervision of the DIG Jalandhar Range B Bhupati and SSP Kapurthala Navneet Singh Bains on a day-to-day basis to come to a solution as soon as possible.
The ADGP said Dileep was previously a student of NIT -Calicut for four years, but he was rusticated later as the professor allegedly held a grudge against him. After rustication from NIT, he got admission to LPU, which is basically a private university, where he was found unconscious in his hostel room where he got his accommodation after his admission at LPU University. The Officials of this reputed University take Dileep from his hostel room to the local hospital, where a doctor examines him and after a detailed examination they declare him as dead.
The ADGP also added that a total of three notes are found in his room, where in the first two notes he had cited his ” personal reasons or issues” for the extreme decision of committing suicide and also urged the university (LPU) to refund his admission fees to his parents as because he belongs from a poor family and his family may need this money which will help them when he was not present with them in this world. But in his last words, in the third note, he blamed his professor, Prof Prasad Krishna for emotionally manipulating him into quitting NITC. He also regrets his decision…he was a burden to everyone. He also says sorry for this but actually, this is it”.” In his suicide notes he described his life and journey in NIT -Calicut,also described about his family and family members,also adding that his father and his brother-in-law came to police station
and verified the handwriting on the suicide notes, On Tuesday, “Arpit Shukla said.
When speaking in front of the media, his father said that he spoke to his son at 1:30 pm on Tuesday. But at around 6:00 pm he got a call about his suicide. He said that his son sounds normal when they had been a conversation over the phone in the afternoon, also added that his son told him that his professor doesn’t allow him to clear four exams at NIT Calicut.” I couldn’t not able to tell you the entire matter over the phone, it was so serious in nature “, his father said. Meanwhile, a board of doctors conducted the post-mortem examination, under the supervision of the Senior Medical Officer,Dr. Kamal Kishore.
As the news of the suicide broke into the air, all the students of the university held a massive protest on Tuesday at midnight in the campus area. The students came out of their hostels and demanded justice for the victim and also demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.
There was also a report of the lathi charge from the police but the ADGP Shukla, however, denied the issue of the lathi charge, but at the same time, he admitted that “mild force” was used to make students return back to their hostels.
