According to the rules, Gajendra will get half of the salary of a regular constable till he attains the age of 18 and completes his schooling.Â
Katni: A 4-year-old boy was appointed as child constable or ‘Bal Arakshak’ on compassionate grounds. The incident took place in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh, said a police official on Sunday. Gajendra Markam had lost his father, Shyam Singh Markam, a head constable in the force. This week, Gajendra was appointed as child constable or ‘Bal Arakshak’ in Narsinghpur, Katni, said the Superintendent of Police Sunil Jain PTI.Â
Additional superintendent of Katni police Manoj Kedia said that there are six or eight posts for ‘Bal Arakshak’ in Katni. As per the rules, Gajendra will be getting half of the salary of a regular constable until he attains 18 and completes his schooling. To familiarize himself with police functioning while studying, he will attend office just once or twice, Kedia added.Â
 Kedia also said,
“The Jabalpur Zone Inspector General of Police sent a proposal to Katni police to appoint Gajendra as Bal Rakshak here since no post was available in Narsinghpur. There is a provision in Madhya Pradesh police to appoint Bal Arakshak compassionate grounds”
