India has been facing the global pandemic of Covid-19 for almost 1 year and eight months. During that period, India was also recorded as the second-highest number of confirmed virus cases globally by reporting 33,678,786 issues during September 2020.
Though, India has controlled the overall spread of the infection by enforcing efficient steps such as lockdown, sanitation, social distancing, and vaccination.
Moreover, the vaccination program launched by India on 16th January 2021 also played an important in controlling the effects of the infection in the country.
Current Status of Covid-19 in India
According to the current survey and virus-related data available, about 24 states of India have successfully controlled the spread of the coronavirus by adopting proper precautions, which further resulted in low active and death cases of people due to Covid-19.
But the data associated with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has highlighted that there are five central states of India reporting a rise in the cases of Covid-19, which could further act as a threat to the country’s overall safety.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala remained the top state to contribute towards the rapid rise of Covid-19 cases in the country by reporting more than 15,000 Covid-19 cases daily, while Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, and Tamil Nadu are also in the list of the central states to contribute in the rise of the Covid-19 cases in the country by reporting more than 1,000 cases daily.
Though most parts of India have succeeded in limiting the coronavirus cases by reporting a steady decline in the issues of the virus compared to the previous year, some states of the country are still unable to control the circumstances.
One such state is Kerala, as the Covid-19 accounts of Kerala represent about 55% of all the active cases in the country.
Apart from Kerala, Maharashtra reported about 37,000 active cases of Covid-19, which is the highest number of active topics in the nation, while Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and the north-east state Mizoram are also witnessing a rapid rise in the active cases of the infection by reporting 17,261; 12,482 and 8,880 active points respectively.
Comparison of the Current and Previous Covid-19 Status of India
In starting of this year, the Covid-19 status of India reflects the severe risk of infection in all the states of the country, which increased from several deaths, the decline of the economy, and the increase in unemployment.
The second wave of Covid-19 began in India in March 2021, which made the nation go through a devasting period as the people of the country faced a shortage of hospital beds, vaccines, medical supplies, and oxygen cylinders.
Moreover, on 30th April 2021, India reported over 400,000 new cases within a 24-hour period, which led India to become the first country to register the highest number of active instances of the Covid-19 within a day.
Though, the vaccination program of India enabled the country to seek specific relief from the Covid-19 effects with the help of the Union Health Ministry and scientist of the National Institute of Virology.
Apart from this, the initial testing aspect, expansion of tests, testing community transmission, vaccine development, and production and vaccination policy and distribution also played an essential role in controlling the spread of the virus and help the people to fight against the virus and its effects efficiently.
