Haryana has opted to form village-level committees to assist in the implementation of development projects till the state’s panchayat elections are held. On Monday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar decided during a pre-budget meeting with officials from the rural development and Panchayati raj institutions.Â
“Only in conjunction with these committees can work be done in the community.” As a result, development efforts in the community will not be hampered, and public representatives’ wishes will be heeded. Along with this, Gram Sabha meetings would be held regularly.Â
Officers and public officials should collaborate to develop rural regions to get better results. Every cent should go to the general populace. The public is first and foremost related to the system’s lower-level unit, the Gram Panchayat; hence, the state government’s top objective is to strengthen this unit.”Â
“We need to adopt a fresh resolve in this new budget,” Khattar remarked, implying that the 2019 budget session will see considerable improvements in the field of rural development. Khattar has been having pre-budget meetings with representatives and officials from several departments for the past few days. The Haryana Vidhan Sabha’s budget session begins on March 2.Â
Manohar Lal Khattar addedÂ
“While emphasizing rural development, each village’s Gram Darshan Portal and Vikas Nidhi Portal have been built,” the CM remarked. Every villager may use the Gram Darshan Portal to report an issue in their community to the government. Aside from that, Gram Panchayats must consider raising their revenue. Various disciplines can also be used to improve income. Gram Panchayats may now earn more money by collecting fees for things like rent for gas outlets, cell towers, and Panchayat property.”Â
“There is a need to undertake a social audit and pre-audit in the works of Panchayati Raj,” Khattar said at the meeting, referring to a request made by the executive officers of the Zilla Parishad who came from various districts. Retired officers from the hamlet should be enlisted.”Â
