Through plastic spectacular style, the actress Margot Robbie commenced the Barbie press tour.
Throughout the press tour for the eagerly awaited Barbie movie, Margot Robbie has been delivering some spectacular fashion moments, and the outfits just keep coming.
Margot Robbie hasn’t just been imitating Barbie on the red carpet and during photo ops, demonstrating her commitment to the theme.
She was even spotted pushing pink baggage while carrying an outfit fit for the renowned doll: a grey pair of slacks and a pale pink tweed blazer from Chanel’s spring/summer 1996 line.
Margot’s Barbitastic fits
The 33-year-old actor Margot shocked at her most recent press conference in her most Barbie-inspired outfit. Greta Gerwig’s live-action film premiered in Mexico City, and Robbie arrived in a pink leather Balmain minidress modeled after the ’90s “Earring Magic” Barbie doll.
The pink outfit included a corset-style bodice, long, sheer sleeves, and a high neckline. She completed the look with pink Manolo Blahnik heels, a chain link star belt, and star earrings that matched.
Robbie’s current red carpet style was inspired by a photo that her stylist Andrew Mukamal shared on Instagram.
The Wolf of Wall Street actor wore two special Versace outfits to the Barbie Seoul premiere earlier this week that were modeled after the doll’s “Day to Night” ensemble from 1985.
She first donned a throwback skirt suit and accessorized with a white boater hat, a tiny Versace La Medusa purse, and Judith Leiber’s bejeweled ’80s cell phone clutch. She then changed into a pink dress by Versace with a tiered tulle skirt that sparkled.
At a recent Barbie photocall in Los Angeles, the rest of the ensemble appeared to have missed the memo. Robbie resumed her Barbiecore trend last week with a pink Valentino minidress with pink polka dots that was modeled after the “Pink & Fabulous” Barbie from 2015. Everyone’s attention, however, was drawn to the “sad beige” attire worn by Robbie’s fellow cast members in the Barbie movie.
The Barbie movie
Greta Gerwig will be directing the upcoming fantasy comedy Barbie from a screenplay that she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach. This live-action Barbie movie, which is based on the Mattel fashion dolls of the same name, has hitherto only appeared in computer-animated direct-to-video and streaming television productions. Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie play Barbie and Ken in the movie.
While on a Mattel tour, Gerwig noticed that while Barbie had friends like Midge and Christie, the rest of the dolls in the line are just called Barbie. This gave her the idea for many of the Barbies.
Barbie’s quest to find true happiness after being expelled from Barbie Land for being a less-than-perfect doll is the movie’s central topic. The ethereal spirit of Barbie’s aesthetics resonated across the cultural realm long before the movie’s scheduled release thanks to early views of Margot Robbie channeling Barbie’s essence and bystander images of the movie’s on-location production bathed in vivid pastel hues.
This fascinating confluence of events occurred on two different fronts: first, the multiple magazines’ forecasts of pink’s impending ascendance as a fashion trend; and second, the movie’s meteoric rise in popularity as a result of the discussion surrounding it, which gave it the moniker “Barbiecore”‘s pinnacle.
The Barbie movie is scheduled to debut on July 21. Ryan Gosling, Emma Mackey, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Will Ferrell, and more actors also appear in the movie.
Given that the movie won’t be out for a few more weeks and that Robbie has a busy schedule of premieres, it’s likely that we’ll see a lot more Barbie-inspired clothing from her in the future.
