For the impending civic elections in Delhi, a total of 2,012 candidates have submitted their nomination papers to the electoral commission, according to sources.
All 750 candidates for the AAP, BJP, and Congress, the three largest parties in the national capital, as well as nominees from other parties and a sizable number of independents, submitted their nominations on Monday, the final day for filing documents. According to the sources, data analysis from submitted nominations continued until the early hours.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will hold elections for its 250 wards. The election officials have received 2,564 nominations altogether from 2,012 candidates.
Officials had stated on Monday that the nominations process had been entirely smooth and that thorough preparations had been made at the headquarters of each RO.
