The Mehrauli Police on Monday unveiled a 6-month-old case of the dreadful murder of a girl named Shraddha who was hashed into 35 pieces and disposed of. The police linked the accused as Aftab Poonawalla.
The Delhi Police said that they fell in love with each other while working in the same Mumbai office. The couple worked together in one of the call centers in Mumbai.
While speaking Republic, the police said that one of Shraddha’s friends told to her father that his daughter was not in touch with her for numerous months.
Shraddha’s father filled in a missing complaint and according to police, her last position was found to be in Delhi.
DCP Additional Ankit Chauhan told Republic, “The father approached the Mumbai Police recently. The Mumbai Police came to us, and we took legal action. Then after everything was disclosed. Initially, the accused (Aaftab) said he would fight with her (Shraddha), after which she left him, and he also had no contact with her for many months. But after sustained interrogation, he accepted (the crime).”
Shraddha’s parents expostulated her relationship with Aftab and the brace, they eloped to Delhi thereafter.
They were living in the Mehrauli area of Delhi. Shraddha was wishing to get wedded to Aftab, but subsequently, he lost his temper and killed her on May 2022. He first strangulated her and also in the most horrible manner minced her body into 35 pieces. The killer likewise stored her diced body parts in a fridge for the succeeding 18 days and latterly disposed of the pieces in the forest area of Mehrauli. The pair quarrel with each other constantly, according to the police.

Meanwhile, the police attached the refrigerators in which the accused stored the hashed parts of the victim.
According to OpIndia, the accused would go out every night at 2 am to dump her body parts and destroy the evidence of his heinous crime. Shraddha’s family kept track of her via social media posts.
On how the body parts were disposed of, the DCP said,” He disposed of the body parts in a period of months. He did not do it instantly. Meantime, he stored these pieces in a fridge.”
The police said further probe is going on.
