According to Microsoft India CEO Anant Maheshwari, India will be the world’s data and AI capital, generating breakthroughs for the rest of the globe.
CP Gurnani, CEO of Tech Mahindra, adds that technology is an enabler that is helping us design the future – and it is more human than anyone thought.
At the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum 2022 on Wednesday, Gurnani spoke with Nitin Bhatt, managing partner, the technology sector, EY, and Maheshwari.Â
Building on that, Maheshwari emphasized the importance of determining what technology must vs. what technology can accomplish.Â
“When we think of digital skilling, we think of coding or high-end talents to construct Al or ML,” Maheshwari added, “but it has to be a lot more inclusive.” The position of a security guard, for example, has changed to include digitally enabling and managing communication and other responsibilities, and it is critical that he has the digital skills required to execute his job.
“Bridging the digital divide requires skill development, access, and inclusion,” he stated.Â
According to Gurnani, sustainability will become a key difference in the future, with sustainability becoming personal. Employees he spoke with stated they wanted the corporation to understand that sustainability is a major problem on a personal level. While it is still early, he believes that things will change once it becomes a widespread movement.
“Most of us are now having this talk in boardrooms, building tech platforms, and setting clear objectives.” “The struggle is practically half-won, in my opinion, since people see it as their mission,” he remarked.Â
Finally, when asked how they saw India at 100, Gurnani stated that the dream of digital India should be one in which digital is assisting in the transformation of lives and livelihoods, with the impact obvious at the grassroots.
“We must collaborate to create a seamless, transparent, and digital ecosystem where outcomes are judged by opportunities,” he stated.Â
Maheshwari predicted that India would become the world’s data and AI capital, generating inventions for the rest of the globe.
