Microsoft is planning to develop a privatized version of ChatGPT for businesses reluctant to use the standard version due to concerns of unintentionally releasing confidential information. The new product will run on dedicated servers and will cost up to 10 times the cost of the standard version.
ChatGPT has become a global phenomenon ever since its launch in November 2022. Multiple organizations have already adopted ChatGPT to automate a huge chunk of their workload. But organizations like banks and corporate companies have refrained from adopting ChatGPT due to the fear of unintentionally releasing confidential information while using it.
In lieu of this, Microsoft is planning to offer a private version of ChatGPT to these corporations and expand the scope of the AI tool. Microsoft is planning to develop a “privacy-centric” version of ChatGPT for organizations such as banks and healthcare who prioritize privacy and confidentiality regarding their data.

Microsoft to set the price of the privatized version at 10 times the price of standard version
Microsoft’s primary objective is to expand the reach of ChatGPT across all sectors and in order to do so, the company will have to bring aboard organizations which are currently reluctant to adopt ChatGPT in their workforce.
According to various reports, the plans to launch a private version of ChatGPT will be announced later this year. The privatized version would operate ChatGPT on specifically dedicated servers.
Currently, the public version of ChatGPT uses a common public server which is incorporated into various Microsoft products such as Microsoft Edge and Windows. This is the common server of ChatGPT and is used by most users out there.
ChatGPT is an AI generative tool which constantly improves itself by having access to data being fed into it. The new privatized version of the tool will ensure that confidential data from companies is kept private and is not used to train the AI model, keeping employees from unknowingly releasing private information.
Although it appears as a great step to curb unintentional release of private data by organizations, the product will come with a huge price tag. It is being reported that the privatized version of ChatGPT will cost up to 10 times the cost of the standard version of ChatGPT as the new product will have high deployment costs.
Companies such as Samsung recently banned the used of AI Generative tools
ChatGPT is an AI generative tool developed by Microsoft backed AI firm OpenAI. The self-learning software uses AI generative techniques to constantly improve upon its accuracy and scope by learning from the data constantly being fed to it.
Recently, Samsng has banned the use of AI generative tools such as ChatGPT and Google’s Bard in its work environment after an employee entered confidential internal source code into ChatGPT.
Other corporations that have also banned the use of ChatGPT and similar tools include financial firms such as Golman Sachs, Jp Morgan and Chase, Verizon, and Citigroup.
Italy became the first western country to have temporarily banned ChatGPT due to privacy concerns and the software’s access to personal conversations.
Responding to Italy’s ban, OpenAI introduced a new feature wherein users would have the option of turning off the chat history in order to avoid ChatGPT accessing those data points and hence preserving individual’s privacy. Turning off the chat history would restrict ChatGPT from using the data points for improving and training its model.
