It’s not an easy task for a parent to limit their kid’s screen time, as screens are available everywhere and they get addicted to viewing them.
Challenges in Minimizing kid’s screen time
The widespread pandemic forced the kids to stay indoors and they changed their activities from playing outdoor games to video games. They got addicted to gadgets like laptops, TV, mobiles, etc and parents find it difficult to stop these activities.
It’s a challenging task for a parent to limit the screen time of their kid. It’s because screens are found everywhere nowadays, adding limitations to this is difficult. However, some changes should be made to limit the screen time of kids.
Some tips to minimize kid’s screen time
1.Stick to rules
Always set some rules for kids to use gadgets. These rules could be time limits, avoiding devices during studies, etc.
2.Bring them Outdoors
Spend time with your kids by making them visit places or playing outdoor games with them. This will make them happy too.
3.Set goals
Always don’t compel them to ignore gadgets at once. Make them limit their usage by setting small goals, i.e., limiting their timings to one hour a day, etc.
4.Get closer to them
Parents can get closer to their kids by spending more time engaging them in fun activities, chatting with them, tutoring them, etc.
5.Stick to device -free activities
Ensure to have some device-free activities in your routine. For eg: Develop the habit of avoiding gadgets during mealtime.
6.Stay away from Gadgets before sleep
Cultivate the habit of setting the gadgets away a few hours before bedtime to sleep soon and wake up early.
7.Keep devices away from kids
Keep all the gadgets in a certain place which will be harder for the kids to grab them. Make use of that time and help them to read stories, newspapers, etc.
8.Try to be a role model for kids
Parents should always practice the habits that they teach their kids. This makes you a role model for them.
