A National AYUSH Research Consortium will be established soon, the prime minister announced.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the world is returning to Ayurvedic treatment methods after trying different styles.
Other attendees
Goa-based All India Institute of Ayurveda, Ghaziabad-based National Institute of Unani Medicine, and Delhi-based National Institute of Homeopathy were virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
In the afternoon, Modi arrived in the coastal state to address the 9th World Ayurvedic Congress (WAC) and Arogya Expo.
PM Modi’s claim
The Ayurveda Congress brought together representatives from more than 50 countries.
According to him, the world has tried many different treatment methods and is now returning to Ayurveda. It focuses not only on physical health but also on overall wellness.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said we should expand Ayurveda to more countries and give recognition to the traditional medical system. More than 30 countries have accepted Ayurveda as a traditional medicine system.
In 2014, when he assumed the office of Prime Minister, Ayush was worth 20,000 crores, but today it is worth 1.50 lakh crore.
“We should take advantage of the growing global market by undertaking medicinal plantations,” he said, adding it would create more jobs.
In addition, he stressed the need to develop an evidence-based database for Ayurveda that meets the parameters of modern science.
“In modern science and treatment, an evidence-based database is essential. The Ayurvedic sectors need to build such a database. The Union government’s Ayush portal already has 40,000 research studies,” he said.
There were 150 specific research studies submitted to the ministry during the COVID-19 pandemic, the prime minister said.
A National AYUSH Research Consortium will soon be established in the country, he announced.
All India Institute of Ayurveda’s inauguration could be a step towards promoting Ayurveda and Yoga tourism in a state like Goa.
Sarbananda Sonowal express his opinion
Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for AYUSH, said the prime minister’s visionary and dynamic leadership had transformed the Ayurveda sector.
According to Sonowal, the PM has transformed the Ayush sector and the WAC has enjoyed tremendous success due to the positive response from India and abroad.
Gujarat will host the global centre for traditional medicine. “It would be ‘AYUSH ka Amrit Mahotsav,” he added.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda in Dhargal will have 50% of its seats reserved for Goans, according to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
He claimed that every day, the AYUSH ministry commissions projects totalling thousands of crores of rupees. The chief minister declared that Goa would have a distinct AYUSH department that would be devoted to AYUSH physicians.
