“According to information, on August 11, customs authorities stopped a male traveler arriving on flight TG-337 from Bangkok. The Twitter account for Chennai Customs stated that one DeBrazza monkey, 15 King snakes, 5 ball pythons, and 2 Aldabra tortoises were discovered during the investigation of checked baggage.
In a tweet that was sent by the AQCS (Animal Quarantine and Certification Service), it was mentioned that “the live animals were sent back to their country of origin through Thai Airways, as the animals had been illegally imported.”.
There was an accusation brought against the passenger for violating the Wildlife Protection Act, and other relevant government agencies were promptly notified. A court in the locality granted customs’ request to place the suspect passenger in judicial detention for 14 days after the passenger was presented to the court. There has been an arrest made against him.
Now he is in Chennai jail.
