Chennai International Film Festival
There is a huge threat for movie buffs here which is that more than 100 international movies are going to be screened. CIFF will begin on Thursday, 15 December, and end on Thursday, 22 December.
107 films from 48 countries to be screened including several Oscar nominees. The festival screens more than 100 international feature film including 12 Tamil films and 12 Indian Panorama featured films around. German films are touted to be screened the maximum comparing to last year. The details about the entire films that are to be filmed is given in 20th CIFF Schedule in their official website with date and time. The Tamil films that are going to be featured as per the details given by fest organizers are Gautam Ramachandran’s Gargi, Pa Ranjith’s Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, Parthiban’s Iravin Nizhal, Seenu Ramasamy’s Maamanithan,Ramnath Palanikumar’s Aadhar, Chimbu Devan’s Kasadathapara, Ashok Veerappan’s Buffoon, Mano Ve Kannathasan’s Irudhi Pakkam and GS Vikesh’s O2.
People who are fond of seeing international movies are welcomed to see it in big screen because in South India it is rare to theatres publishing international movies. Only the movies of top-notch actors celebrated in Tamil Nadu are welcomed by the South Indian audience. To fill that gap CIFF sets a common platform for cinephiles to see their favorite international movie in theatre at least once in a year.
The filming venue are PVR Multiplex, Santham screen, Serene screen, Six Degrees screen and Seasons screen in Sathyam Cinemas. It is the same as the last year and all the other years. The audience is requested to read and follow the instruction that are given by CIFF.
With the support of Tamil Nadu and the Film Federation of India, the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation organized the CIFF in the year 2003. The festival aims at encouraging people to understand a different culture and to promote affiliation among the people. It also sets the stage for the film fraternity to express through films.
The 19th CIFF decorated the screens from December 28 to January 6, 2021. It was inaugurated by many profound celebrities for it was the fest after the pandemic.
CIFF not only focuses on featuring World Cinema in local but also showcases the Tamil cinema to the world.
