We all need to think about mental health first says Mrunal Thakur. It is not something someone will call us mad. Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone, Ilena D’cruz, and others have finally started opening up about mental health issues by challenging their stigma.
However, every time a celebrity opens up about their struggle, their comments make headlines and stay in the news for days.
Recently Mrunal Thakur, the Bollywood and TV actress, opened up about her struggles, suicidal thoughts, depression and mental health in her early teenage; fans were shocked.
They bared it all from depression to having suicidal thoughts, how she overcame these fears and negative thoughts when she was in her college days.
After becoming a popular household name with her portrayal of Bulbul in the TV show, Kumkum Bhagya stepped into Bollywood. The actress debuted with Vikas Bahl’s Super 30 opposite Hrithik Roshan.
She is one of the top actresses in Bollywood and has millions of fans worldwide. She has recently given many hit performances, including ‘Dhamaka’ and ‘Toofan.’
The actress recollected her memories. During an interaction with a news portal, Mrunal shared that she traveled by local train during her college and struggling years. Mrunal Thakur then added that she would stand at the door and sometimes jump off.
When you choose a course, it looks entertaining on the outside, but you don’t realize that you didn’t sign up for this until you do it. That is something different thing. That is what was happened to me.”
Leaking some information on her journey, Mrunal added that her parents always wanted her to become a dentist. Still, she wished to pursue a degree in mass communication, and she convinced them, though. Mrunal felt that losing interest in the course was not what she had anticipated.
Mrunal said she’s quite a creative person as she’s more of a listener and doesn’t like much reading. I can’t write scripts. There was a subject called literature. I wouldn’t say I enjoy reading, and I am a listener. I like watching things. I used to feel, ‘What am I signing ?’ There was always that self-doubt.
The actress also acknowledged her struggle staying in Mumbai. I was staying away from my family. Living far from a family is not an easy task, that too city like Mumbai. You have to manage your rent and food. You have to account for every rupee.
And because my father is a banker, even if I withdrew 500 from my account, he would get to know. But she had complete faith in her talent. Mrunal said that 15 to 20 is ‘crucial’ as people are trying to find themselves.
She added that those who had not yet figured out what they wanted to tend to feel low and have suicidal thoughts. On being asked if she went through something similar
Furthermore, the actress stated that she used to feel she would be nowhere if she did not do well. Mrunal thought she would be married off at 23 and have kids, which she didn’t want.
The actress added that she would give auditions to do something different. I always wanted to do something different after giving auditions back then; There were many times when I felt like I was good for nothing.
Meanwhile, on her work front, Mrunal is currently awaiting the release of her film, ‘Jersey’ with Shahid Kapoor. This film is an adaptation of the Telugu film and will now officially be released in Hindi with the same name.
It was first to hit the theatres in December last year. However, it was pushed ahead owing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The makers didn’t announce the new release date.
