As per the police statement, the deaths of the women are believed to be the result of a robbery rather than being linked to a property dispute, which was previously suspected.
A music teacher has been apprehended by the police on Friday, two days after the discovery of the bodies of Rajrani Karar, 76, and her daughter Ginni Karar, 39, in their apartment located in Krishna Nagar, east Delhi. The teacher is believed to be involved in the murders.
“Arrest and Identification of Suspects Linked to Robbery and Murder Case”
The man who was captured by the authorities has been identified as Ankit Singh Rajput, a person in his 20s. Law enforcement has assembled teams to apprehend the second suspect, identified by the first name Kishan, also in his 20s. Kishan was previously an English tutor for Ginni, an individual with autism and a speech impediment. Rajput, a music teacher, accompanied Kishan during the commission of the robbery and murder. The police further stated that both suspects originate from Bihar and were residing in separate rented accommodations in east Delhi.
Police report indicates that the women were purportedly killed during a robbery that took place on the evening of May 25, rather than being victims of a previously suspected property dispute. Law enforcement officials further state that the two men were observed on CCTV cameras outside the premises on two separate occasions within a span of one and a half hours.
According to an unnamed senior police officer, Rajput has admitted to being involved in a gruesome incident where he and Kishan, the English teacher of Ginni, allegedly used a knife purchased in Laxmi Nagar to fatally slit their throats. The motive behind this tragic event was believed to be robbery. After committing the heinous act, the two individuals looted the apartment, taking away jewelry, cash, and three iPhones. Presently, Kishan remains unaccounted for, and law enforcement teams are actively searching for him.
According to the officer, the two suspects were able to enter the flat easily because Kishan was Ginni’s tutor. Investigators revealed that the first lead in the case came from technical surveillance when one of the stolen phones was activated in the vicinity of Lucknow. They stated that two unidentified men had come under scrutiny following suspicious activity captured by the CCTV camera outside the victims’ residence on the night of May 25.
According to the police, the pair arrived at the vicinity of the building in an auto. As they approached the entrance, Kishan was the only one who revealed his face, and Rajrani allowed him entry into the building.
An investigator, who preferred to remain anonymous, reported that the video footage revealed two individuals arriving outside the building at 9:50 PM while carrying a backpack. At 11:12 PM, the same camera captured their departure from the area. Notably, one of the individuals had a white gauze bandage covering their left hand, suggesting a potential injury. Additionally, the footage indicated that the second man had changed his t-shirt. These observations have led the investigators to consider them as the primary suspects in the case.
