During Nabanna Cholo Abhiyan, Kolkata Street turn into a war zone as BJP workers clashed with police in the act many hands and feet of workers were broken and around 200 got injured on the roads near Howrah Station on Tuesday.
Kolkata: During Nabanna Cholo Abhiyan/ Nabanna Abhijan on Sept,13, lead to widespread violence during a protest march near Howrah Station. The protest was led by BJP in West Bengal against the alleged corrupt practices of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal. The BJP supporters, police officers and leaders, including Mina Devi Purohit and Swapan Dasgupta, were reportedly injured and Suvendu Adhikari was detained in the clashes between workers and police during the protest.

In the past few months, a large amount of cash was recovered in Trinamool Congress (TMC)legislator houses during CBI raids. In July, the Enforcement Directorate recovered nearly 50 Cr INR with gold, property papers and foreign currency from TMCs Minister Partha Chatterjee’s accomplice actress Arpita Mukherjee.
The CBI Raid on Sunday, 4 September, raided the residences of TMCs MLA Subodh Adhikari and his brother/accomplice Kamal Adhikari who had connections with a fraud fund case that swindled millions of rupees from people. Kamal Adhikari is also said to be the Chairman of Kachpara Municipality
More recently, during the raid on businessman Nasir Khan and son Amir Khan who were said to have connections with a fraud mobile gaming app named E-Nuggets particularly designed to swindle people’s money.
Raid bundles of Seized money contain Rs.500 in the domination of Rs.2000 and Rs.200 notes which were later stacked on the bed and around total cash of 16Cr INR has been raided till now.
Though Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister and Kolkata Mayor Farid Khan said the TMC has nothing to do with neither mobile gaming app fraud nor the businessman Nasir Khan and son Amir Khan. He further added that the centre wanted to drive away investors by spreading the fear of “Harassment”.

Due to these raids, money laundering and corruption, the opposition party, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) took the chance to give uprise to a protest against the corruption and corrupt parties of Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. BJP supporters from across the state of Bengal started to arrive in Kolkata and neighbouring Howrah station on Tuesday, 13 September morning to take part in Nabanna Abhijan.
The Strategy: Nabanna Abhijan
BJP leader Meena Devi Purohit and Swapan Dasgupta and members started Nabanna Abhijan by hiring several trains in West Bengal to bring its party members and supporters of BJP from Different parts of the state to the capital and Howrah station for the protest march.
Several levels of the barricade were installed to ensure peaceful protest from Howrah to Nabanna traffic restrictions were kept in mind along several other key stretches of the city.
BJP Vice president Dilip Ghosh was expected to lead the protest from the North side of Kolkata while Sukanta Majumdarwas most likely to join the procession, said the party.

- BJP Leaders and leaders and members of the opposition in West Bengal got out of control for a few hours near Howrah Station during protest and police resorted tear gas, water cannon and lathi charge on BJP workers to get them under control.
- Meanwhile a video of a policeman brutally assaulting BJP leader Meena Devi Purohit. Which lead to National Commission for Women (NCW) asking the Kolkata police to take strict action against male officers.
- e Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Rajasrchi Bhardwaj of the Calcutta High Court asked the chief secretary of west Bengal to submit a report on alleged police atrocities on leaders and BJP workers.
- BJP said,” Mamata Banerjee is turning West Bengal into North Korea and that Mamata Banerjee is a Modern Day Hitler.
- BJP leader Rahul Sinha Accused Mamata Banerjee, and further added, “The BJP supporters were beaten by state police as the supporters tried to board a special train from Alipurduar to Sealdah and that the train later with left with party workers and protestors”
- BJP accuses state CM of being an oppressor after police tried to suppress “Nabanna Abhijan” with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the BJP workers.
- BJP leader and LOP Suvendu Adhikari were detained by Bengal police while the clashes between police and BJP workers escalated and Meena Devi Purohit and Swapan Dasgupta were injured.
- Police put heavy barricades near the state government’s secretariat that in Kolkata ahead of BJP’s Nabanna Abhijan to make sure no protestors make it past the barricade. Water Cannon, RAF and Police personnel were present in huge numbers.
