Out of 147, most are of sewage infrastructure, and which are around 61 out of 147 almost half have been completed.
The Main Motive of the programme was to control the pollution in Ganga and capacitate the reasons for its increasing pollution and revive the Ganga River to its old and fresh state. Under Namami Gange Programme, all the drains falling into the river Saryu are being tapped and the sewerage treatment plant is taking all the wasted and contaminated water and cleaning it and making it reusable again.
Not only Drain and pollution control make the Namami Gange Programme, but wildlife is also a part of it, as around 30,000 seeds of Major carp such as Catla, Rohu, and Mrigal are released in Ganga, Yamuna due to a major decline in their population due to decreased water quality.
The second Phase of the Namami Gange programme will be from 2021 – 2026 which will engage itself in sewage infrastructures on tributaries of Ganga and Yamuna increasing public partnership with an increase in water economy, sludge and septage management, with the directive issued by Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Central Government also stated that no swage infrastructure project sanctioned in Prayagraj was ever completed before 2014.
