What to Expect?
Of , the ongoing missions run by NASA, there are currently 3 Artemis missions in progress.
Here, Artemis-3 is considered the United States’ first attempt at human landing on the surface of the moon with a crew after the Apollo 17 mission that was executed in 1972. This mission also intends to help, launching future crewed missions, one such as “Moon to Mars.”
Nasa’s “Moon to Mars” mission includes building a new space station in lunar orbit and eventually a reliable base on the moon.
“Artemis is the mythological Greek Goddess of the Moon & the twin sister of Apollo”.
The spacecraft, called “Orion,” that is intended to take the crew on the mission is currently under development.
This time, NASA has some big plans to set up bases on the Moon.
“According to resources provided, there is data backing up that NASA will relaunch their Artemis-1 mission somewhere at the end of September or October.”
Here are some key objectives that drive NASA’s Artemis mission,
- Equality
- Technology
- Partnership
- Long-term Presence
- Knowledge
- Resources
There are four components to NASA’s Artemis Moon Mission:
- Orion Spacecraft
- Lunar gateway
- Moon Landing Module
- Space Launch System
Who will be inside the spacecraft, Artemis-1?
During the execution of the mission, on board Artemis-1 will be the “Moonikin”, which is named “Campos”. “Campos” will be the mannequin wearing the first generation orion crew survival system space suit, which will be later worn by the real astronauts who will be onboard the Artemis-2 & 3 missions.
Moonikin “campos” will be equipped with sensors that will be placed all over its body to provide data of what an actual human being will be facing/feeling during later missions of Artemis 2 & 3.
