On Friday, NATO Secretary General Jen Stoltenberg said that NATO allies have agreed that Ukraine will over time become a member of NATO. This is the first time that a NATO chief has traveled to Kyiv to discuss the security and conditions of Ukraine at present.
The statement come forward after the 11th meeting of the Ukrainian Defence Group with the Secretary General of NATO at Ramstein Air Base in Germany stated the membership to the reporters but at the same, it was ensured that the ongoing war with Russia must prevail with due time as it is a prime focus to maintain the peace and security in the world.
There are also some suggestions that have been made by Stoltenberg that Ukraine must shift its attention to prevent such attacks in the future as soon as the conflict ends.
Ukraine in September 2022 had mentioned Moscow’s partial control over its four regions and that it’s an urgent and immediate need for Ukraine to be a part of NATO.
The war with Russia dates back to February 2014 and continues to affect the world order and the vision of peace and security being hampered in the state. It is a state of situation that brings no fruit to the one indulged in. Disturbing pictures from the site of war have put the world in question whether the war will end soon or not. People suffering from such situations are a matter of concern and that must be addressed as a priority.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky is likely to be a part of NATO’s next Annual Summit in Vilinus, Lithuania in July but a condition from Ukraine has been put up for its engagement that a roadmap for its membership shall be welcomed.
Though the remarks of Jen Stoltenberg on Ukraine’s membership to NATO seem to be positive there is one member which states that such an early initiative shall be thought of again. Germany has cautioned against this rapid development and Defence Minister Boris Pistorious has mentioned that the decision cannot be taken in a rush but should go through rounds of discussion.
Meanwhile, EU countries are focusing on how to fulfill a promise made to Ukraine in supplying the ammunition. Recently the EU faces criticism from Ukraine that delays are costing lives. Whereas the EU stands on the pavement saying the deal has become more legal than a political engagement for help and that all the members who are a part shall keep the time as boundation to fulfill it as soon as possible.
The transatlantic military alliance has been thoroughly supporting Ukraine with a war. Whether it’s military aid or humanitarian aid there has been a constant support for Ukraine during such a difficult time. It’s a longing from every member state that the war must end soon and peace and security shall have prevailed in the world as such nuisance would be of no good and will keep on creating devastating situations for all the netizens.
