NETFLIX’S THE CROWN SEASON 5 GETS A DISCLAIMER AFTER JUDI DENCH SLAMS THE SHOW SAYING IT IS CRUELLY UNJUST!!
The Crown just dropped a trailer on Netflix, the show is gearing up for its fifth season and we can’t wait to watch more. The season will depict the tension between the famous love triangle, Diana, Princess of Whales, Prince Charles now the King, and Camilla Parker, to which, Diana commented in an interview “well, there were three of us”, the show will also recreate the famous interview which Lady Diana had done when she was alive, and that interview got quite famous.
But recently, the show is getting severe backlash after the trailer got released this Thursday, due to which Netflix had to add ‘DISCLAIMER’ to the series.
The move came in after a former British Prime Minister accused the makers of ‘THE CROWN’ of creating confusion with truth and fiction in the series. This is not the first time Netflix has been asked to consider adding DISCLAIMER to the series but many times the Streaming platform ignored it.
In the Previous Season, Queen Elizabeth’s Husband, Prince Philip was blamed by his father for his own sister’s death. The biographer of the Royal family ‘Mr. William Shawcross’ said that the series is filled with lies and half-truths and that these things have upset many Royal members.
Recently, a popular actress DAME JUDI DENCH asked to add a disclaimer to the hit series, so that people don’t confuse fiction with reality. The actress mentioned that “Netflix seems willing to blur the lines between historical accuracy and crude sensationalism”, she said that the series has garnered attention from millions of viewers and is misleading people with the truth.
Netflix soon responded to this and said that they created the drama based on historical events.
The whole thing began when the trailer featured a scene where Prince Charles is seen plotting against his mother, Queen Elizabeth, and there is a scene where he is a conspiracy theory with the then-Prime Minister John Major ruling out his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
When the minister saw the trailer, he quickly denied the claims and said no such talks happened between him and the Prince of Whales, who is now the King of Britain King Charles. He mentioned there were no talks of abduction between him and the ‘Future king of that time Prince Charles never thought of going against the Late Queen Elizabeth II, nor any sort of improper subject raised by him, his office issued a statement.
The series will mainly focus on Lady Diana, her Future King, Prince Wales, the fallout that happened between them, and also the divorce which created a lot of buzz at that time.
Viewers will also get to watch the famous interview of Princess Diana of 1995 which created a lot of controversies at that time. The interview was hosted by Martin Bashir, in the series, this role will be played by Prasanna Puwanarajah. A dialogue in the series has raised eyeballs, where Elizabeth Debicki who plays the role of LADY DIANA is shown saying “I won’t go quietly, I’ll battle until the end.” In reality, no such statement was made by the then Princess of Whales.
Dame Judi who is close to King Charles and Queen Consort, Camilla Parker, said “Sir John Major is not alone in his concerns that the latest series of The Crown will present an inaccurate and hurtful account of history.”
She mentioned the time has come that Netflix should reconsider for the nation and for the royal family, who recently grieved the death of Queen Elizabeth II as a mark of respect to a sovereign who served her people for 70 years and to preserve her reputation for the people.
Dame Judi is famous for Playing Queen Victoria in the historical drama 2017 ‘Victoria & Abdul and 1997’s Mrs. Brown.
For the fifth season, viewers will see a whole new star cast Dominic West will play the role of King Charles who was the Prince of Whales at that time, Elizabeth Debicki will play the Queen of Hearts ‘Lady Diana’ and Imelda Staunton as the Queen, who got famous for playing Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter series.
Peter Morgan who is the writer of The Crown series said that “1990 was a difficult time for the royal family and king Charles will most certainly get some painful memories when the series starts.”
The Crown series will Premiere on Netflix on November 9.
