After leaving the NDA alliance, Nitish Kumar took charge as the 8th chief minister. On the same day, Tejaswi Yadav, his deputy, was also sworn in.
The assembly will put the Nitish Kumar-led grand coalition government of Bihar to the test. In the 243-member assembly, of which 241 are already in session, 165 MLAs have vowed to support Nitish Kumar.
Today’s vote will be a test of Nitish Kumar’s majority, who earlier this month formed a government in Bihar with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other parties after breaking off his alliance with the BJP. Before the vote, the CBI searched the homes of numerous RJD leaders.
Assemblies start at around 1 PM
To celebrate Hazari, CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav visited the speaker’s chamber.
When the Bihar Assembly reconvenes, the Nitish Kumar administration will soon face a floor test.
The assembly is suspended for 15 minutes.
The Bihar Legislature’s special session will continue until August 26. When the assembly reconvenes, deputy speaker Hazari will preside over the proceedings.
Speaking in the legislature, BJP member Tarkishore Prasad claims that the coalition of the JD(U) and RJD violates the will of the people.
According to his deputy, the outgoing speaker of Bihar did not want a Dalit to lead the House.
Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy CM, addresses the Bihar assembly.
The people of Bihar are the US. Delhi residents won’t be able to comprehend our situation. You can’t yell at us: Tejashwi
We are cricket players, and this partnership between RJD and JDU will never cease. This collaboration will play the longest inning as it contributes to the growth of Bihar and the nation. No one is getting run out this time. Mr. Tejashwi Yadav,
CBI, ED, and I-T are the three “jamai” that the BJP puts in front of them when it is intimidated or loses in the state. The BJP issues watch notices against me when I travel abroad, but they take no action when criminals like Nirav Modi flee. Mr. Tejashwi Yadav,
This will take a very long time and never finish. No one will run out. Yadav on the RJD-JD [U] coalition
Tejashwi Yadav denies any connection to the yet-to-be-built Urban Cube mall in Gurugram that was raided by the CBI in connection with a jobs scam case.
Intimidation has not worked to keep Lalu Prasad in check: Tejashwi
 The Scenario in Assembly
Arguments over Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, a BJP lawmaker who refused to resign despite Nitish Kumar’s switching alliances and creating a new government with the RJD, started the day’s proceedings.
A motion of no confidence was presented against him not long after the “Mahagatbandhan,” or a grand coalition took office. Bias charges were made against Mr. Sinha, who stated that he intended to address them before resigning.
Maheshwar Hazari, the Deputy Speaker and member of the Janata Dal-United, the state’s ruling party, is currently presiding over the floor test (JDU). BJP leaders assailed Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav, reminding them of their prior attacks on one another during the dissolution of “Mahagathbandhan 1.”
The CBI raided the houses of many RJD leaders in Patna in connection with a “land-for-jobs” scam that dates back to party leader Lalu Yadav’s time as Union Railway Minister in the UPA-I government, including Sunil Singh, Subodh Rai, Dr. Faiyaz Ahmad, and Ashfaque Karim.
Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, said they would respond to questions about the CBI raids in the assembly, but Manoj Jha, a member of his party, claimed it was anticipated and suggested the BJP was behind the raids.
No raids, according to Lalu Yadav’s wife and RJD leader Rabri Devi, could frighten the “Mahagathbandhan” administration. We have the majority in this state and we won’t be intimidated, she said, adding that other parties support us aside from the BJP.
The majority test in the 243-member Bihar assembly is largely a formality because 164 MLAs back Nitish Kumar’s administration. The legislature now has 241 members, and any party or coalition needs the backing of 121 MLAs to command a majority.
The RJD took the majority of seats in Nitish Kumar’s extended cabinet two days before the majority test. The RJD has 16 of the 31 ministers in the cabinet, followed by Nitish Kumar’s JD (U), which retained 11.
A leader of the Hindustani Awam Morcha and two Congressmen have also been appointed to the position of minister. Sumit Kumar Singh, the only independent MLA, also took the oath of office as a cabinet minister.
While Tejashwi Yadav, the chief minister’s deputy, received important ministries like health, road building, urban development, housing, and rural development, the chief minister kept the Home Department. Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav’s brother, has been appointed as Bihar’s next environment minister.
