Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, wins the trust vote in the assembly for his new government. Before the voting could take place, the BJP walked out of the assembly in protest during the address of CM Nitish Kumar.
In the voting that took place after the BJP walkout, Nitish got all 160 votes. With the support of 164 MLAs in a 243-seat assembly, the majority vote was just a formality for the Nitish Kumar government.
Deputy CM Tejasvi Yadav, chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in his speech during the debate on confidence motion, said that this partnership (referring to the new RJD-JDU alliance) will be ‘historic’.
“This is a never-ending inning, it will be historic.” Our partnership will be long. No one is going to run out,” Tejaswi Yadav said.
During the debate, the BJP’s Tarakishore Prasad slammed Nitish Kumar and said that he has no political credibility.
The former Deputy Chief Minister slammed Nitish Kumar for having ambitions of becoming PM when he cannot even become CM on his own.
The assembly session started with Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, a BJP MLA, losing confidence in a no-confidence motion against him by the new grand alliance. Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hazari of Janta Dal (United) conducted the floor test.
Earlier, the homes of several RJD leaders—Sunil Singh, Subodh Rai, Dr. Faiyaz Ahmed, and Ashfaque Karim were raided by the CBI in a ‘land-for-jobs’ scam dating back to the UPA govt. when former RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was Union Railways Minister.
In the assembly, Tejasvi Yadav slammed the opposition and the center for their vendetta politics and said, “Are you trying to say that all the property in the country belongs to Tejasvi Yadav?” The man who brought the railways into profit is facing cases, while those who are selling it, nothing is going to happen to them. “
He further blamed the Center for using central investigative agencies whenever they are scared. “A narrative is being created. If you join hands with the BJP, then you are Harishchandra (a king from mythology known for his honesty and truthfulness). “Else you are a criminal, a rapist, and the ED and the CBI will be set after you,” he said.
