On March 25, Yogi Adityanath will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for his second term.Â
The Bhartiya Janata Party won with flying colours in the recent Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, and this is all attributed to Yogi Adityanath.Â
It is being said that the party was able to take over and make history in the state under Yogi’s leadership.Â
The oath-ceremony will take place at the state capital of Lucknow’s Ekana cricket stadium at 4 pm.Â
The Ekana stadium was renamed after BJP stalwart and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in November 2018 by the Yogi government in its first term.Â
Top BJP leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Rajnath Singh are likely to be there for the ceremony. They will also be joined by party president JP Nadda, chief ministers of BJP-run states, members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and more.Â
Some of the top opposition leaders are also to attend the event, including three former chief ministers of the state- Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati and Adityanath’s predecessor, Akhilesh Yadav of SP.Â
From Congress, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will be invited.Â
Grand preparations for the event, which will feature recipients of government initiatives, have already commenced.Â
Yogi will officially be elected as the party leader at the BJP legislature party meet to be held on Tuesday in Amit Shah and National Vice President Raghubar Das’s presence, before he takes the oath on Friday.Â
The cabinet ministers and their numbers have not been decided upon yet by the party. Â
BJP’s big win in UP
BJP made history with its victory in the state elections last week, making it the first party to return to power in 37 years in India’s most politically vital state.Â
The party won 255 seats out of 403, with its allies winning 18 more. Â
Yogi Adityanath contested his first assembly election this time and won from the Gorakhpur Urban constituency. Until now, he was a member of the legislative council.Â
Out of all the other states the party won, Yogi’s return as the chief minister was the most certain, due to his contributions that led to the win. Â
