OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar, whose release date is set for August 11, appears to be in jeopardy. The Censor Board reportedly planned to watch the movie more closely earlier this month to avoid criticism similar to that aimed against Adipurush. It now appears that the movie might miss its intended release date. According to insiders who spoke to NDTV on Sunday, OMG 2’s trailer has a U/A classification, but the actual movie does not. This is said to be one of the issues with OMG 2’s Lord Shiva, who is played by Akshay Kumar.Â
In an unexpected change of events, the hotly anticipated “OMG – Oh My God!” sequel gets involved in a contentious debate. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), according to reports, has suggested changing Akshay Kumar’s iconic portrayal of Lord Shiva in “OMG 2.” The original movie, which came out a few years ago, received a lot of accolades for its thought-provoking plot and Akshay Kumar’s outstanding performance as the contemporary Lord Shiva. However, with “OMG 2” in the works, critics of mythology and moviegoers alike have objected to the CBFC’s proposal to replace Lord Shiva with another mythical character. The CBFC’s decision has stirred discussions regarding artistic freedom and the portrayal of religious icons on the big screen both inside the film industry and among viewers.
Some contend that changing Lord Shiva’s persona may water down the film’s core message, which centred on challenging conventional religious beliefs and embracing spirituality in all its forms. The “OMG 2” production team has been coy about the suggested adjustments as the uproar grows, leaving fans impatiently expecting an official response. Anees Bazmee, the film’s director, has made some vague references to plot twists, which has increased rumours. The fate of Akshay Kumar’s portrayal of Lord Shiva and the prospective inclusion of a new character in “OMG 2” are both still up in the air at this time.

The teaser for OMG 2 was released earlier this month. As depicted in the teaser, Akshay plays Lord Shiva, who helps Kanti’s family when they suffer a major tragedy, while Pankaj portrays Kanti Sharan Mudgal, who worships Lord Shiva with the deepest devotion. In the movie, Yami Gautam plays a lawyer.
The movie is a sequel to “OMG: Oh my God,” which starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. In the first movie, Akshay played Lord Krishna.
It is unclear whether the OMG 2 producers will still be able to obtain the U/A certification they are pursuing after tweaking scenes rather than deleting them after making the requested edits. Despite receiving a U/A certification, the trailer serves little purpose since there is no major release scheduled for August 11. Despite not requiring any certification, the trailer has not yet been uploaded on digital platforms since a teaser was posted earlier this month.
