New Delhi:- The Foreign Ministry said, “Matters related to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are entirely the internal affairs of India. Other countries, including China, have no locus standi to comment. ”
On Wednesday, India said that Jammu and Kashmir is a matter for India and that China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi made an “uncalled” reference to it when he spoke at a party in Pakistan, and that it doesn’t like that.
According to Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, telling reporters today, in response to queries on the Chinese Foreign Minister’s speech, “Matters related to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are entirely the internal affairs of India. Other countries, including China, have no locus standi to comment. They should note that India refrains from public judgement on their internal issues. ”
In his opening speech at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Pakistan, Mr. Wang made a reference to Kashmir, where he said that “on Kashmir, we have heard again today the calls of many of our Islamic friends. And China shares the same hope.”
Within two days, New Delhi’s rejection of Wang Yi’s comments came in the midst of hectic consultations between the two sides over a possible visit by him, and China has time and again reiterated its support for the stand of Pakistan, its strategic ally, on the matter of Jammu and Kashmir.
India rejected the references to Jammu and Kashmir in a China-Pakistan joint statement last month and asserted that the region as well as the Union Territory of Ladakh “have been, are, and will” remain integral and inalienable parts of India.
