The One Piece Movie Red ranked #1 at the Japanese box office in its opening session.
The movie had sold around 1.58 million tickets and grossed around 2.254 billion yen which is around US$16.7 million in the first two days of its premiere.
The movie had grossed 78% more in its first two days of release than its previous movie One Piece Stampede did in its first three day of premiere.
One Piece Stampede premiered on a Friday whereas One Piece Film Red was opened on Saturday.
The movie premiered in Japan last Saturday.
The movie had IMAX screenings in 27 theatres in Japan that opened with regular screening side by side.
The movie also had an MX4D, 4DX, and also Dolby Atmos screenings on opening day.
Crunchyroll will be screening the upcoming movie One Piece Film Red in the countries like United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this fall.
