Background
Recently, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with Punjab officials in the absence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagat Mann, leaving the reason to the opposition to target the AAP party. The opposition asked Bhagwat Mann the reason behind holding a meeting with Kejriwal.
The meeting took place on Monday in the absence of the Punjab Chief Minister. It gave a huge opportunity to the opposition, and they called it a “remote control government.”
As for the reports, Aam Aadmi Party head Arvind Kejriwal met with all the top officials of Punjab, including Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. Even the state’s chief secretary and secretary were present.
Punjab opposition parties such as the Akali Dal and the Congress displayed reports that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagat Mann, who took the oath of office, was not present at the meeting.
 Opposition’s rage
- Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it was unconstitutional and unacceptable.
- Navjot Singh Siddhu said that the Delhi Chief Minister summoned IAS officers in the absence of Punjab CM Bhagwat Mann. This is a Delhi-controlled government; this is a total breach of Federalism; this is an insult to Punjabi pride. And he asked Bhagwat Mann and Kejriwal to clarify the incident.
- Even former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh stated that it is the worst thing that has happened in Punjab and that Kejriwal has taken over too soon.It has arrived much sooner than expected.
Amarinder Singh tweeted that
“Worst was feared, worst happened.”
Arvind Kejriwal has taken over Punjab much before it was expected to happen. That Bhagwant Mann was a rubber stamp was a foregone conclusion already, but now Kejriwal has proved it right by chairing the Punjab officers’ meeting in Delhi. “
There is no response from the Aam Aadmi Party leaders to this criticism, but a party spokesperson gave his justification for the meeting and said that the opposition should support this kind of constructive step for Punjab.
Is Bhagwant Mann rubber stamp CM?
AAP spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang told the reporters,
“Mr.Kejriwal is our national convener. We always follow his guidance. If for some constructive step and the betterment of Punjab, an informal meeting was held, then the opposition should not criticise it, but rather support it. “
Later on, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chung criticised Arvind Kejriwal for converting Punjab CM Bhagwat Mann into a rubber stamp CM of Punjab.
Mr. Chung added that this was not a constructional act of the Delhi CM; it exposed that Arvind Kejriwal would be the supremo of the Punjab government and Bhagwant Mann would be only a rubber stamp. He said it was a disrespectful act for Punjab and an insult to Punjab officials that the Punjab government would be run by a Delhi CM.
On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann met with Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi. Later on, he tweeted that the meeting was very good and Punjab would get some good news. He said they will change Delhi, Punjab, and the whole country together. He continued by saying that people are in very deep trouble and they are tired of corrupt and bad governance by leaders and party members. And we will work day and night for the people.
Delhi transport minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is our party convener and nothing is wrong with that if he holds a meeting with officers from Punjab and it should not be a big issue for anyone.
Reports say that a meeting was held on Tuesday with Punjab officials in Delhi to discuss ways to implement the 300 units of free electricity in the state. According to the Aam Aadmi party, as promised in the election manifesto.
