Fans were left perplexed when Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar were not featured in the Oscars 2022’s ‘In Memoriam’ section. Lata Mangeshkar died on February 6, this year, while Kumar died on July 7, last year.
After a gloomy two years, the magnificent 94th Academy Award night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, hosted by Regina Hall and Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes, sparked excitement. It held on March 27 (28th March, 5.30am IST).
The Academy’s ‘In Memoriam’ reel, as it does every year, paid tribute to various film celebrities and artists who died last year. The Oscars In Memoriam section also paid respect to cherished and important individuals of the global cinema industry who have passed away this year.
Sidney Poitier, and William Hurt were among them. But, however, failed to honor the two renowned Indian legends who died.
Dilip Kumar was one of India’s first and best method actors, appearing in a number of classic films and garnering numerous prizes from the Indian government, including the Padma Bhushan and more.
Lata Mangeshkar was a legendary Indian singer who was awarded the Bharat Ratna, and many more. Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor and Bhanu Athaiya had previously been honoured by the Academy in its In Memoriam section.
The Academy has already paid tribute to Sridevi in the past.
This year’s Oscars, the 94th Academy Award, arrived with attempting to reverse a years-long decline in ratings with some controversial changes, including omitting the eight categories and introducing a “fan favourite” Oscar and “Cheer Moment.”
Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” and “The Flash joins the Speed Force” got the “Fan Favorite” award. With that, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, won the “Cheer Moment” award.

Support for Ukraine at Oscars 2022
The Oscars held a moment of silence to honour the war in Ukraine and encouraged the audience to #StandWithUkraine. On the red carpet, some celebrities wore blue and gold accents to pay honour to Ukraine.
The United Nations Refugee Agency provided blue ribbons to many of the celebrities who attended. The slogan #withrefugees appears on these blue ribbons, referring to the refugee situation created by Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and in solidarity with all those compelled to flee oppression.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Jason Momoa, Yuh-Jung Youn, and Diane Warren were among the celebrities who showed their support outside the Dolby Theatre.
Oscars 2022’s Fashion
Following last year’s smaller-than-usual Oscars celebration at Los Angeles’ Union Station due to the epidemic, this year’s Oscars glitz featured lots of pastel colours highlighted by brilliant gold splashes.
More of the top stars walked down the red carpet in their exquisite couture gowns as the ceremony approached.
Along with fiancée Dylan Meyer, Stewart wore the black shorts as part of her Chanel outfit. Chalamet, who stars in the film “Dune,” likewise went without a shirt, opting for a short-cropped, glittery blazer with black pants and boots.
In support of war-torn Ukraine, Jason Momoa wore a blue-and-yellow pocket square in his Tuxedo. Kirsten Dunst wore a ruffled red gown to the premiere of “The Power of the Dog,” which she attended with her partner and co-star Jesse Plemons.
Earlier in the day, Jamie Lee Curtis, a Hollywood veteran, walked the red carpet in a neck-high, sparkly Stella McCartney gown. Billie Eilish wore a spectacular black Gucci gown with rows upon rows of ruffles to the 2022 Academy Awards red carpet.
Every celebrity presented there showed their best look for the glamourous ceremony. Throughout the show, the Academy spread the love, with several movies picking up prizes and celebrating the talents.
